Learning puppetry helps develop self-awareness, language and communication skills, problem solving, teamwork, and creativity. Acorn and Rose offers a variety of workshops for all ages and skill levels - how to make hand, rod and shadow puppets - performing (using "voices", manipulating
puppets, using song and music) - writing scripts, putting together and painting puppet theaters and sets, costume and mask design.
A single workshop or residency may run for many days or just a few hours, for large or small groups. It may involve creating puppets, developing script, practicing puppet skills and putting on a play. A puppet show might include history, science, literature or any other subject. There is no limit to what can be done. Workshops are available for children as well as for teachers (for graduate and undergraduate credit and clock hours) and for family and community groups. Please contact us to arrange exactly the workshop or residency that will fit your needs.

There is magic in pretending because it leads to new realities. Something most of us need.
